Emmepi Group is proud to announce its sponsorship of Giovanni Crivicich as the newest researcher funded by their 2024 donation to the AIRC Foundation. This collaboration marks a significant step forward in advancing cancer research, specifically focusing on the role of the IFITM3 protein in DNA repair mechanisms and its impact on acute myeloid leukaemia.
Giovanni Crivicich, a distinguished graduate from the University of Milano-Bicocca with a degree in Biotechnology, furthered his expertise with a Masters in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology from Milan University and obtained his PhD in molecular medicine from Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele (Milan). He joined the Anna Kajaste-Rudnitski laboratory at the University of Pavia in 2025 as a Post-Doctoral researcher investigating DNA damage response and AML resistance.
The research project aims to explore how the IFITM3 protein may contribute to cancer cells' resistance to chemotherapy. By identifying new potential therapeutic targets, this study endeavours to make treatments more effective for those battling acute myeloid leukaemia.
"We are honoured to support Giovanni's promising research through our partnership with the AIRC Foundation," said Alessandro Bersanetti, President of Emmepi Group. "His work has the potential to make a profound impact on cancer treatment and we remain committed to supporting cutting-edge research and initiatives that drive progress in medical science. We believe that investing in talented researchers like Giovanni is essential for developing effective solutions that improve lives and contribute to a healthier future.”
